Description of critical habitat of the Behr's Hairstreak in Vaseux-Bighorn National Wildlife Area
The Behr's Hairstreak (Satyrium behrii) is a small butterfly that is listed on Schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act. In Canada, the Behr's Hairstreak co-occurs with its larval foodplant, antelope-brush. Its range is restricted to low elevations in the south Okanagan valley of British Columbia.
The Recovery Strategy for the Behr's Hairstreak (Satyrium behrii) in Canada, available at www.sararegistry.gc.ca/document/default_e.cfm?documentID=2664, identifies critical habitat for the species in a number of areas, including a federally protected area.
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to subsection 58(2) of the Species at Risk Act, subsection 58(1) of that Act applies, 90 days after the publication of this notice, to the critical habitat of the Behr's Hairstreak — identified in the recovery strategy for that species that is included on the Species at Risk Public Registry — that is found within Vaseux-Bighorn National Wildlife Area, the boundaries of which are described in Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Area Regulations made pursuant to the Canada Wildlife Act.
Interested parties are invited to contact Environment and Climate Change Canada by email at ec.protectionep-sarprotection.ec@canada.ca to request clarification regarding the location, biophysical attributes and protection of this species' critical habitat. However, some details may be withheld to protect the species and its critical habitat.

Description of critical habitat of the Yellow-breasted Chat auricollis subspecies in Vaseux-Bighorn National Wildlife Area and Vaseux Lake Bird Sanctuary
The Yellow-breasted Chat auricollis subspecies (Icteria virens auricollis) (Southern Mountain population) is a migratory bird protected under the Migratory Birds Convention Act, 1994 and listed on Schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act. In Canada, the Southern Mountain population of Yellow-breasted Chat auricollis subspecies is typically found in riparian areas in the south Okanagan and Similkameen valleys of British Columbia.
