Fortis Properties Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortis Inc., (TSX: FTS, 139 Water Street, P.O. Box 8837, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador A1B 3T2), hereby gives notice that on December 20, 2011, an application was filed with the Director of Waterpower, Parks Canada Agency, under the Dominion Water Power Act (DWPA), for a licence to continue to operate the generating station facilities at Brewers Mills.

The site of the facility is at Upper Brewers Mills Lock, approximately 200 m west from Highway 15 on Brewers Mills Road, on the Rideau Canal National Historic Site of Canada. The facility has been operated by Fortis Properties Corporation and its predecessor, Granite Power Corporation, since 1939. The plant is capable of producing 900 kW of electricity.

The Manitoba Floodway and East Side Road Authority hereby gives notice that an application has been made to the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities under the Navigable Waters Protection Act for approval of the plans and site of the work described herein. Under section 9 of the said Act, the Manitoba Floodway and East Side Road Authority has deposited with the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and in the Winnipeg Land Titles Office, at 276 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, under deposit No. 1624/11 (52245) and registration No. 4165084/1, a description of the site and plans for the construction of a bridge over Longbody Creek, located at 51°45′55″ N and 96°39′27″ W, in the southwest quarter of Section 26, Township 32, Range 6, and the northwest quarter of Section 23, Township 32, Range 6, east of the Prime Meridian, on the east side of Lake Winnipeg.

Comments may be directed to the Regional Manager, Navigable Waters Protection Program, Transport Canada, 9700 Jasper Avenue, Suite 1100, Edmonton, Alberta T5J 4E6. However, comments will be considered only if they are in writing, are received not later than 30 days after the date of publication of the last notice and are related to the effects of this work on marine navigation.
