Launch of the new Canada Gazette Web site

Ottawa, March 1, 2009 — In accordance with Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada’s Common Look and Feel 2.0 guidelines, the Canada Gazette Directorate (CGD) launched its new Web site today—a more dynamic and modern resource which reflects the high service standards envisioned by the CGD.

“We’re trying to increase the speed and ease with which Canadians can access the regulations that affect their daily lives,” said Margarita Ngoh, Senior Communications Adviser, CGD. “The new Canada Gazette Web site provides online access to a broader range of important information in a more user-friendly manner.”

In addition, the new Web site aims to increase accessibility and facilitate information searches due to the following improvements:

  • more options within our home page giving quick access to information;
  • navigation menus grouped by subject allowing for easier site navigation;
  • added icons within the right-side menu leading directly to specific, high-demand sections of the site; and
  • a new section, Resources for Teachers, providing information on and links to a series of educational lessons relating to the Canada Gazette and the consultation process.

The Web site address of the Canada Gazette has also changed; the official address is now www.gazette.gc.ca. Please be sure to update Web site bookmarks accordingly.

“We hope the new Web site will be of great use and look forward to continuing to better serve the needs of Canadians” said Rémi Massé, Director, CGD. Any comments or suggestions regarding the new site can be submitted by using the form provided in the Contact Us section of our site.
