Order Fixing April 4, 2005 as the Date of the Coming into Force of Certain Sections of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to section 38 of the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Act, assented to on March 23, 2005, being chapter 10 of the Statutes of Canada, 2005, hereby fixes April 4, 2005 as the day on which that Act comes into force, other than sections 35 and 36, which came into force on assent.
EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Order fixes April 4, 2005 as the day on which the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Act (the "Act"), assented to on March 23, 2005, being chapter 10 of the Statutes of Canada, 2005, comes into force.
The Act establishes the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. The Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, who is appointed under the Great Seal, has the powers, duties and functions set out in the Act. The enactment also provides for the appointment of the Deputy Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.
